Police are investigating the tragic death of a toddler in the small Ontario hamlet of Baltimore. The child was reported missing shortly after 5 pm on Thursday and was found a short time later in what Global News says “appeared to be a well.” Paramedics attempted to revive the child but police confirmed this morning that she died at the scene.

Twelve people were hurt after a passenger opened a plane’s emergency-exit door during a flight in South Korea on Friday. It caused air to blast inside the cabin, but the pilot was able to land the aircraft safely. Officials said others on board tried to stop the person and they were detained by airport police once the plane touched down.

Canadian singing Celine Dion has cancelled all of her tour dates through the spring of 2024 due to her ongoing medical condition. The 55-year-old was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition known as stiff person syndrome last year. In a statement, she said she was sorry to disappoint fans and is working hard to build back her strength.

Nurses held a rally outside the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George on Thursday in an attempt to draw attention to what they say is a “crisis” for both health-care workers and patients. They say the hospital, which is the largest in northern BC, is at a “breaking point” and describe long waits in the emergency room, as well as patients lined up in hallways to receive care.

An American climber who owns a mountaineering company based out of Seattle has achieved the rare Everest triple crown. Garrett Madison, 44, climbed the Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse peaks all in one season, a feat that is incredibly difficult. Sadly, the Everest death toll for the season has also climbed to 12, as Canadian national Petrus Albertyn Swart, 63, died while going to the summit on Thursday.
