The 61st Oak Bay Tea Party being held this June

Soon, Willows Park in Oak Bay will be transformed into a huge tea party—with an amusement park, live entertainment and the annual floating teacup challenge.

The 2023 Oak Bay Tea Party will be held on June 2 to June 4.

Shooting Star Amusements will be operating from Friday to Sunday, and there will be a parade on Saturday morning.

Esquimalt Lions will be back providing the pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The annual event helps organizations like the Kiwanis and Lions raise funds for their many community projects.

There’s also the popular teacup race, where the mayor of Oak Bay challenges competitors to see who can get their large fibreglass teacup and saucer across the finish line first with mismatched oars.

The winner takes home the coveted Mayor’s Floating Teacup Race trophy.

This year, Mayor Kevin Murdoch will be participating in the race, which will take place on June 4 at 3 pm at Willows Beach.
