The BC Provincial Government has announced several new upgrades to 16 kilometres of trails in Gowlland Tod Provincial Park on the Saanich Peninsula.
The improvements include the addition of a small gravel parking lot for trail-goers, the addition of extra signage and trail markers, as well as upgrades to existing bridges and pathways.
The park and the Partridge Hills/Durrance Lake area is a popular hiking and mountain biking, encompassing over 25 kilometres of trails on the Saanich Peninsula.
In addition to the improvements listed above, the park will be closing off an additional 7.6 kilometres to protect and conserve existing Douglas Fir forest habitats in the area.
The project is estimated to cost around $500,000 and is part of a larger $21.5-million project to improve park and trail spaces across the province.
