A flood watch is being maintained for rivers in the Thompson and Shuswap regions, says the BC River Forecast Centre.
On Monday, several flood watches and high streamflow advisories were issued for most of the BC Interior.
Flood watches have ended in the Okanagan and for rivers near Merritt.
However, the South Thompson River and creeks around Chase Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, Splatsin, Salmon Arm, Salmon River, Sicamous, Enderby and surrounding areas and surrounding areas remain under a flood watch.
The Shuswap River is also still under a flood watch.
A high streamflow advisory (HSA) is being maintained for the Thompson River downstream of Kamloops Lake.
The North Thompson River near Barriere and Clearwater has been downgraded to a HSA.
Fortunately, Cache Creek is no longer under an advisory and the Bonaparte River has been downgraded to a HSA.
“The low-pressure system that impacted the B.C. central interior over the past few days has moved on. Warmer and drier conditions are anticipated through the rest of this week,” says the BCRFC.
“In most areas, flood hazards have diminished as snowmelt and rainfall runoff has eased. Most rivers in the Nicola, Bonaparte, North Thompson, Similkameen, Okanagan, have reached peak levels and are now receding.”
People living in areas under flood watches or HSAs are advised to remain cautious around unstable creeks and river banks and fast-flowing bodies of water.
