Kamloops shooting victim succumbs to injuries, homicide investigation launched

A woman who was on life support after being shot in Kamloops on Sunday night has died.

“This is a sad outcome to an act of violence now deemed a homicide,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley of the Kamloops RCMP.

“Resources from our Serious Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Service Unit, General Investigation Support Team, Crime Reduction Unit and frontline officers continue to progress the investigation.”

Police have been in contact with the victim’s family and they are requesting privacy at this time.

Emergency crews responded to the incident in the 800 block of Valhalla Drive around 6 pm on Sunday and found the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries after being shot.

“At this time, the incident is believed to be isolated and the parties involved, known to each other,” said Sgt. Neston Baird said on Tuesday.

Police said at the time that they were working to execute a search warrant on a residence in connection to the shooting, but have provided no further information on that front.

Residents are being urged to check their security and dash cameras to see if they captured any footage that could be helpful to the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has other relevant information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.
