Mission Group’s plans for a 40-storey tower on St. Paul Street have been slightly altered.
Earlier this year, plans were unveiled for a residential tower at 1355 St. Paul Street.
That property is currently a parking lot, just north of the UBCO downtown campus site.
Those former design plans proposed 308 units that would be designated as rentals on levels eight to 29 and the remaining 154 units would be market condos on floors 30-40.
However, an updated development permit application shows only 384 units.
The parking has also dropped from 407 parking stalls to 323 stalls.
“The point tower will provide 35 floors of rental units,” the application says.
“Level 5 provides a generous outdoor amenity deck with a community garden while Level 40 provides a shared indoor amenity space which will afford residents with a beautiful panoramic view of the lake, the mountains, and the city.”
A podium will contain retail space, a lobby and three levels of parking.
However, the first step for the applicant will be securing city council’s approval of a rezoning application, which was just submitted on Wednesday, to add the rental only subzone.
The development permit and rezoning applications have both been circulated around the city’s planning department, however, it could be some time before a report is brought forward to city council for review.
Besides the 43-storey UBCO tower to the south, there are also plans underway for a 35-storey tower at 1405 St. Paul Street, which is across the street from the future downtown university campus.
