Motorcyclist, 24, dead after losing control and crashing off Okanagan highway

A young man is dead following a single-vehicle crash near Coldstream on Monday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Hwy 6, just east of Aberdeen Road, around 10 pm.

Investigators determined that the 24-year-old was riding a motorcycle westbound on the highway when he attempted to pass a vehicle on a double-solid yellow line.

Unfortunately, he failed to properly navigate the corner, left the road and his body was tossed from the bike as it barrelled down an embankment.

“As a result of the impact, the man sustained fatal injuries and was deceased on scene,” said Cpl. Tania Finn. “We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

The RCMP continue to investigate the fatal incident and are asking anyone with information on the collision, whether it’s a first-hand witness account or relevant video footage, to contact the North Okanagan detachment at 250-545-7171.

The BC Coroners Service is also conducting its own independent investigation into the man’s death.
