Delta Grand in Kelowna named one of Canada's top hotels for a weekend getaway

It's the lakeside location, it's the urban-resort vibe, it's the newly renovated rooms, it's the waterfront restaurant, it's the weather, the wine and the cruiser bikes.

It's the myriad of reasons the 390-room Delta Grand Okanagan Resort has made the list of the 'top nine hotels for a weekend getaway in Canada.'

Now, this list is compiled by Marriott Bonvoy Traveler for its print and online magazines, so only hotels in the Marriott family were considered for the list and the article.

Delta is one of the 30 hotel and timeshare brands Marriott has worldwide, including Four Points and Fairfield (which have locations Kelowna), Marriott, JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, Westin, MGM, Le Meridien, Renaissance and St. Regis.

Even if the list has Marriott bias, it's prestigious for the Delta Grand because Marriott is the largest hotel company in the world with 8,785 properties and 1.6 million rooms all over the planet.

In Canada, Marriott has 280 hotel properties, so the Delta Grand making the list means it's one of the best nine of 280 or in the top .03% of hotels for a weekend getaway in Canada.

It's an incredible spotlight of positive attention for not only the Delta Grand, but Kelowna and the Okanagan as a desirable place to vacation and play.

"Yes, we do see a bump in reservations and activity to our websites and our resorts after being featured," said Delta Grand marketing manager Jordan Mauro.

"Marriott has a loyal membership base where travelers are always looking for new places to travel or to rediscover past favourites. The Delta Grand is an iconic Delta resort in a beautiful city that offers new and unique experiences for guests. The Delta Grand has added lots of live music and culinary experiences as well as a family program to the summer calendar."

Bonvoy is Marriott's loyalty program.

The article by Lola Augustine Brown doesn't rank the nine hotels, it simply lists them with photos and their attributes.

The blurb for the Delta Grand is: Situated in Kelowna, British Columbia, on the shore of beautiful Okanagan Lake and surrounded by wineries, Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort is an urban resort perfect for unwinding. With plenty to do and see on-property, you'll feel properly taken care of while spending a weekend here. Enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, plus a poolside bar, a fantastic full-service spa and stylish rooms and suites. Hungry? The popular-with-locals Oak+Cru Patio restaurant overlooks the water and serves up dishes inspired by the local region. Cruiser bikes are available for exploring the lakeshore and downtown Kelowna. And for a special treat, book a private wine tasting in The Cellar, which is stocked with 2,800 bottles of local wine.
