Around 3:40 pm, power was restored for 241 of 254 FortisBC customers who lost it shortly after 1 pm today.

According to the utility provider's website, just 13 properties remain in the dark at this time.

There is still no confirmed cause of the outage, but residents in the area reported a loud bang and smoke coming from a power pole on Loseth Road around the time the lights went off.

Members of the Black Mountain Community group on Facebook are speculating that it could be a while before things are fixed.

One resident wrote that he heard a loud bang and saw smoke coming from a power pole on Loseth Road.

However, he also reported that a FortisBC crew had just arrived at the scene and was already working on the repair job.

The power went out shortly after 1 pm and there is no estimate from FortisBC as to when it might be restored.

KelownaNow will update this story as it develops.
