Anyone expecting to hear a plea in the sexual assault case against former Kelowna mayor Colin Basran, will have to wait.
Instead of an arraignment hearing at the Kelowna Law Courts today, there was yet another delay.
Special prosecutor Brock Martland and defence lawyer Lydia Chu jointly requested the extra time while discussions take place between the two.
The arraignment has been rescheduled to June 6.
Basran is charged with one count of sexual assault over an alleged incident on May 11 of last year.
The former mayor is free on bail on the condition that he stays clear of the alleged victim, and other certain individuals connected with the case.
Basran lost to Tom Dyas in the 2022 municipal election, but he was still the sitting mayor at the time of the alleged incident.
