Warriors goalie Rorke Applebee earns BCHL 1st Star of the Week honours

The BCHL has announced its player honours for the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2 and a West Kelowna Warriors’ player earned top marks.

Goaltender Rorke Applebee earned the league’s 1st Star of the Week after a stellar week that saw him turn aside 47 of 48 shots fired his way.

That included 25 saves in a 4-1 win over the Vernon Vipers on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and a 22-save shutout against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The impressive play from the 20-year-old is nothing new, as Applebee has a perfect 5-0 over his past five games while boasting a 1.34 GAA and .951 save % during that stretch.

So far this season, the Lake Superior State commit has posted a 10-4-1 record with a 2.47 GAA and .907 save %.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Jacob Terpstra and Nanaimo Clippers forward Luke Buss rounded out the BCHL’s three stars.

The Warriors will be back in action this weekend with the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at Royal LePage Place on Saturday, as the Trail Smoke Eaters are in town.
