After acquiring the rights to Dane Sorensen in a trade earlier this month, the Kelowna Rockets have now signed the defenceman to a WHL deal.
Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton, who sent a pair of mid-round picks to the Victoria Royals in exchange for Sorensen, called him “the type of defenceman that makes your team harder to play against.”

"He's physical, he competes every shift, and he has a high hockey IQ in his own end,” Hamilton explained. “The experience he has from winning championships in back-to-back seasons tells you about the competitor he is.”
The first of those back-to-back championships came with the Shattuck St. Mary's 18U Prep team in 2025.
This past season, he started the year with the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede before making the move to the BCHL’s Brooks Bandits and winning a title with them.
Sorensen, 19, stands 6’1” at 183 pounds and is from Los Angeles, California.
