Oilers trounce Canucks to force game 7

It was not the outcome the Vancouver Canucks and their fans were looking for as the Edmonton Oilers kept their season going with a 5-1 victory in game six on Saturday.

With the series now tied at three games apiece, the Canucks will host game seven in Vancouver on Monday, marking the first time in 13 years a game seven is played at Rogers Arena.

The Oilers got the scoring started in the first period and two minutes later the Canucks evened the score with what would turn out to be their only goal of the game.

Seven minutes into the second period, Zach Hyman restored Edmonton’s lead before Evan Bouchard made it a two-goal game.

The Canucks, who have made multiple third-period comebacks this year, were held off the scoresheet in the final frame.

Edmonton had a pair of goals in the third while the Canucks struggled to challenge Stuart Skinner.

In total, Vancouver mustered 15 shots on net, 20 shots less than their previous game.

The Canucks will look to keep their season going on Monday with a 6 pm puck drop.
